A 3 Day Outdoor Summer Festival of Vineyard Columbus
Breathe began as a dream.
Eric Pickerill, former pastor of Joshua House, had a dream one night that he was under water looking up at the surface, which was beyond reach. He tried to swim up but couldn't reach the surface because he was weighed down and struggling. He desperately needed to get to the surface, to get to air…to BREATHE. As he awoke he realized that God was revealing to him that he was drowning in the chaos and busyness of life, unable to breathe deeply of God.
And so in 2001, the Breathe Festival was started to be a place where we can leave all of our stress, busyness, and technology behind for a few days and gather together and meet with Jesus. With cell phones in our pockets, ipods in our ears, laptops over our shoulders and Wi-Fi keeping us constantly connected to the world, we need a space without these things where we are able to reconnect ourselves to God.
And so while our numbers have grown from 100 that first year to almost 900 in 2009 our mission remains the same: to get away from everyday life so that we can worship, pray, and be with Jesus. To get away and breathe.
